The highs and lows of my songSeptember 03 Gimme some hairsprayyyyyyy!hahaha obviously i just got back from watching Hairspray. it was sooooooooooooo cool and lovely!!! i went to watch with sid and billy at Tiong plaza. the entire cinema there were only 3 of us and another 4 people behind us. we laughed sooooo much during the movie and i found myself groovin in my seat from time to time (sid thinks its cos i'm deprived of clubbing this week - which i will explain later). anyway the movie musical is just so chewing-gum-bubbly-happy (is there such a word? haha)!! but at the same time it addresses issues about racial segregation and reminds us how lucky we are to live in a more integrated society today *serious tone*. i mean just look at MTV, it's almost RULED by african-american artists now. hahaha. anyway, after the movie, i felt musical-high and danced my way out of the cinema (of course nobody else was around besides sid and billy haha). i so wish my life was a musical too!! in fact, it always has been - in my head. i was telling billy and sid, if only we had our own musical - the Membina musical!!!! Billy can do his signature membina-drifts, dancing around the aunties (way better than 881 ok!), flashing his kopitiam card and sid can be running away from dancing magic brushes and epilators (sid's worst nightmare now hahaha!!). oh oh, and Billy can also be the "corny collin", while sid is Edna the mom (John Travolta), and Wee Kiat will be his loving hubby!! hahahah and together they dance to "Hips don't lie" with weekiat going "oooo baby when u dance like that... u make the dutchie go mad..." HAHHAHAHA!! *Imagination going wild!!!* me and neeti shall be dancin and singin on jalan membina with a whole troop of bangla workers running after us behind (those working on the blocks opposite our block! haha). ok chi anh stop. back to reality. *snap* so now back to recapping my weekend. well, it felt short cos i stayed in 80% of the time. on friday afternoon i started feeling sick. i still went for Neeti's play at UCC (which was great btw, good job my darl Neeti!), but went home straight after. no dinner. no partying. and stayed in the entire Saturday to nurse my flu and fever. i actually enjoyed it. it's been forever since i spent a weekend at home. just relaxing by myself, reading, watching tv, listening and collecting new music etc. i really enjoyed the solitude. i planned to continue chillin today. but around afternoon Jolin pulled me out of the house to go shoppin at Taka. afterwards we bought sushi, sashimi back to her place to eat with Soba. it was real fun. and oh, plato (jolin's doggie) went for grooming and he looks so naked now without the curly fur! haha. after dinner jolin sent me to tiong plaza to meet billy and sid for movie, and we watched Hairspray. so ya, its been a quiet weekend that ended with a bang! i feel gooood *grooves* August 31 sshhh you didn't see anything...psst... i'm secretly blogging in office. this is a hopeless attempt to keep me awake after my lunch.
i'm still aching from yesterday's gym.and today is gonna be a long night i foresee. gonna watch the play at UCC
(the one Neeti is in),then go MOS to party.
the past few days i havent been going out at all. mostly just come home, make dinner, go gym, come back eat.
watch tv/read. sleep. oh i watched Ratatoiulle on Monday night. had free tickets from First Magazine.
AWESOME flick!!! i enjoyed it so much. Gary said the whole time i was leaning forward, eyes glued to the
screen. hahahaha. its just sooo cute and meaningful at the same time. it does teach u a thing or two. kids and adults
alike.
oh i went great world city yesterday after work. one advise. do NOT try to go great world city from office. i should
have just gone home, take a freakin 16 or 195 at tiong plaza down. but nooo..i had to try and take 195 from
office. as it is it was a long walk to the bus stop. and then the bus ended up making this huuuuuuuuuuge loop
all the way up to commonwealth, then it came back to tiong plaza. and i realized i wasted one full hour on the journey.
hahaha. the funniest part is, TL actually came with me, cos he was convinced he knew where to take
the bus to great world from office. we ended up sitting at the back at the bus freakin out everytime the bus
made an unfamiliar turn. but it was fun though. we laughed so much i think the entire bus was happy when we finally
got down...
ok ok back to work! August 27 fun fun weekend!in fact, this entire week has been quite happening. but its already 2am and i'm supposed to go to bed by now!!!! ok i give myself 15 min to recount the entire weekend. Friday: my company event - dinner and screening of Rush Hour 3. the entire Lido theatre hall was booked for us. everyone brought kids and all. it felt like a family day gosh. luckily i still have a few younger colls. RH3 was damn funny. in a lame and retarded way. which i enjoy anyways. speaking of lame funny shows, has anyone seen Poltergays??? i saw the trailer and i feel like seeing it already! hahaha! looks like a good potential Tiong bahru GV movie outing w the membina clan *HINT* ok that wasnt really a hint. We've gotta catch this! after movie, my looong night was just getting started. i dropped by St James for awhile. Movida was just the way i remembered. same band. same music. same crowd. and i suddenly remembered why stopped coming to st james. i left St James around 2am to go MoS to join my gals Jo, PL and my boys Sid & Billy (and there were "guest appearances" by Barrie, Xian & her bf, Justin (where did u disappear to after we met???). gosh it was smashin fun. i didnt have much to drink (hardly in fact), but we had so much fun just dancing and goofin around. and the theme of the night was "Smack that" hahaha. and i was molested by my own gals. haha! we stayed till close to 5am, then headed down to Spize for supper. Saturday: i woke up around 130pm and with much will power, i still made my way down to the gym for Body balance class. had to take cab down in order to make it. bleh. but i am glad i went. its yoga/pilates/taichi combined and really helps u center yourself and feel serene. which is exactly what i've been trying to do everyday. doing body balance on weekend is a perfect way to release the tension (and muscle ache for my case) occuring over the week. after class, i came back home and had an easy but fun, long dinner w Neeti, Sid, Billy, Hesh and Kok Tiong @ Tiong plaza. we laughed so much i had stitches after dinner. its funny how everytime we gather, we spend 80% of the time recalling and reminiscing funny memories that we've accumulated over the past 5 years. good thing we're still creating new ones :) After dinner, we all went down to Wine Bar (sid was craving Lychee Martini ;) hehe), had a few rounds of drinks and then went down to Butter Factory. Despite dancing so much the previous night, miraculously, we could still dance at Butter till 4am, followed by supper at spize again. It's been awhile since neeti partied w us so that was real fun. Sunday (today): i went town to meet Trang (she's in singapore for just a couple of days) for coffee, and then hung out w her friends for dinner as well. had real fun and its cool how me and her friends get along quite well even though that was my first time hangin out w them. and thanks to wern hui, i finally know which bus stop to take 16 from to go home from orchard. gosh i suck. all this while i've been taking MRT/cab while the bus stop is just behind the MRT station!!!! it was so fast. i reached home within 10 min! seriously... For those who havent seen it, check out the latest clip made in Jalan Membina, starring Billy Png. It's really retarded and u can hear me screaming all over the place (was supposed to be singing though). check out those cool flashing shades! (courtesy of Sid!) August 23 tired but happy :)phew i'm tired. had a happening day after work. jo came over to my place right after i finished work, we went groc shopping together and hung out, watched Friends, chitchat... then we both headed down to Great World City, where I was going to attend the gala premier of A Home Song Story - a Singaporean/Australian production, starring Joan Chen. all my colleagues backed out of this event, so I was the only one attending from my dept and i brought Rachel along :). but we sidetracked a bit and ended up shopping at zara before the movie. and as usual, we got carried away trying/buying... when we went up to the theatre, there was already no food left at the cocktail/buffet reception (even though there was still half an hour till the show. urgh). all that's left was salad put in tiny glasses (nicely assorted, but seriously, i'd have to dump at least 10 of those glasses onto my plate to at least feel it in my stomach). so yeah, i quickly got myself a big fat hot dog to eat in the cinema. haha. my gym consultant will scream if she me eat this. (extra cheese somemore). the movie was actually not bad. i came with little or no expectation, after what i've experienced with previous local shows (gone shopping, cages, becoming royston). but thank god, it was a movie in which actors could act convincingly. though the dialogs were quite poorly developed. the whole time they were talking in bad hongki english. like "you...good man" or "you my daughter. you very pretty. one day you prettier than me". hahahahah. the plot was somewhat draggy, and the tragedies just kept repeating itself all the way till the end of the movie. it was such a depressing movie, it took the audience forever to start clapping. it was an awkward silence. and even after that, we didn't hear much discussion about the movie. everyone was just kinda...quiet...rushing out of the cinema hall. odd... i remember at the Gone Shopping premier (despite it being such a bad movie), there was still a lot of buzz after the movie, and ppl were inviting one another to the after-party. but anyway, all in all, it was a nice evening and i enjoyed it. yesterday was my most tiring day ever!!!! it was supposedly my first day at the gym. kevin came along too. but instead, it turned into a 3.5hour long negotiation session with the gym consultant about the membership package. gosh. i also dunno how i ended up sitting there for so long... but it was really major information overload and i felt like it was the hardest decision to make ever! hahahaha! and it didnt help that kevin kept telling me i was being bluffed. i tried to tell them i wanted to leave and think it over, but they kept telling me its the last day of promotion blablabla. in the end i cracked under the pressure and succumbed!!! i signed up on my first visit to the gym. sigh. how hopeless... ah well... i'd better stick to this to make every cent worth! haha. i'm going tmr for my first training session with a Personal trainer. according to him my arms are UNDEVELOPED, and my muscle mass is below average. and i'm 101% obese! hahahaha! Kevin is a scrawny guy and he's 93% obese. (we did this body composition measurement thingy, which kinda makes everyone feel that they need to work out ASAP). after the looong evening at the gym, me and kev went down to acid bar to meet jo and pl. i was so smashed by then i couldn't really talk properly. oh btw the CBD area sucks. i waited for half an hour and couldnt get a single cab. they were ALL on call!!!!! it was already 1030pm then and still no cab!! manz! i took mrt to town and it was much faster. not gonna try getting cabs at raffles place again man. ok ok. its late. i gotta shower and sleeeep. oh Hairspray is out! cant wait to see!!!! August 20 what a looong weekend!haha... the reason i felt that this weekend was so long is cos i feel really drained out. like as if u had a long working day. though i did sleep at least 8hours every night. i think it's mainly cos of my friday night. i hadnt been out till 7am for some time, so my stamina has gone down a bit haha. anyway so on Friday, i went KTV (partyworld orchard. where else?) with Jolin and Gary. we ordered our dinner in the KTV and sang/ate at the same time. was super duper fun. gary finally witnessed the crazy KTV duo - me and jolin. the funniest part was when we both stood up and sang Maria by Blondie and Dancing Queen. i think i laughed so hard i bumped into jolin and her specs almost fell off. man..that night was classic. after KTV, i rushed back to get ready to go Butter Factory to meet Sid, Billy and Julia. Butter Fac rocked as usual. the music was awesome, and we all had a smashin good time till they closed at 3am (urgh somebody pls tell them to close later that!!). after butter closed, still feeling unsatisfied, we all moved down to MoS and danced in the hip hop room till it closed at 430am. was not bad too, though the hip hop there is heavier than Butter. after MoS closed, we all went to Spize for supper. Billy and julia ordered this sting ray, which caused billy stomach ache the entire following day. haha poor fella. so we all came back around 630 and i only slept at 7am. crazy night. i woke up only at 4pm, and 3/4 of my saturday was already gone! i managed to drag myself out to have dinner w Sid, Hesh, Billy and Neeti. After that, me, hesh and billz went to watch Bourne Ultimatum - which was reallllllllllly friggin good!!! i loved it so much that after the movie, i read up on the plots and facts of all 3 installments on wikipedia. i love jason bourne!!!! Bourne! forget about finding out who u are, come to me!!!! i'll keep u safe in vietnam! *hiak hiak hiak* anyway. after movie, i went to meet Joanne and the guys at Liquid Kitchen @ river valley. thats my first time there, though i always see it on my way home. its not bad. My Sunday was not bad too. i woke up around noon, then went for a MASSIVE lunch at little india with sid, billy, jules and sid's colleagues. we ate at this place called Raj, which has really awesome and huge portions of Dosai! i couldn't finish mine. so that's A LOT of food by my standard. after lunch it started raining and we all went back to take afternoon nap. gosh how sinful! hahaha. when i woke up from nap, it was almost time for dinner. I met up with Norman & Huong at Holland V for dinner to catch up. i havent met Huong for at least 6 months... gosh. She said i look a lot different than how she remembered. i wonder how much 6 months can do to ur looks, but i guess i did mature a lot in the past 6 months. Joanne was coincidentally having dinner just across the street at Wala Wala. so i went over to say hi and talked to the rest of the gang. Tonight PL came back from HK. YAY! missed her man... alright. time to sleep. another new week starting. have a great week ahead!! |
